Philosophy
A
few years ago Scott & Deanna found themselves increasingly busy with
their employment. Although for the most part they both enjoyed
their work, they wanted to reclaim the time necessary to do other
things. As they've often said to friends, they found
themselves in a position where they could afford to eat out most
nights, but they craved having the time to do some proper grocery
shopping and make a good home-cooked meal instead. They also
wanted to get more adequate training in. In grade school and
university they were involved in individual and team sports, and
they continued to enjoy various athletic activities together in
married life, but other things started to get in the way. They
never stopped getting a ride in here and a run in there (just enough
the keep the weight and blood pressure down and the energy level
up), but they wanted a more consistent routine.
So, they decided to try to
make do with one full-time salary, in the hope that they would then
be free to eat and train better. It's been a few years since
they began this experiment and so far so great. They're
thrilled with the results.
This site, and
TheTrainingCoop in more general terms, is a partial reflection on
their attempt at focusing on training. Things have grown a
little since Scott & Deanna started the site, a couple more
members have come on board, home gym renovations have been made, and
Scott even became certified as a fitness trainer.
While we all enjoy having
our hands in a few other things and exploring other areas of life, we
continue to place a substantial emphasis
on trying to do a good job of life's basics, which to us includes eating and
exercising well. That, we suppose, is
what you could call a part of our
philosophy.
